We wanted to make a short video about the exchange and therefore made a plan for the next week.
Blender model making wasn’t alien to me, but I had no previous experience in making a model suitable for 3D printing. When I sent the precariously done model over to the Cura the printing software, it showed a lot of errors and some of it couldn’t be explained by the staff at the digital lab either. I was frustrated. Tried my best to make some corrections and paused on that for a while.

Meantime, Amber was working on the wireframes for the Gumtree app and Varsha was working on the script for the video
As I went back and forth from my accommodation, I started documenting these stickers on posts, walls, columns, bridges, bus stops, etc. And thought why not use these as a marker for safe spaces?
While looking at what places could be used as points of exchange, I was looking at the urban landscape and from the previous field visit, came up with a set of places. The places were
Park benches, public toilets, telephone booths, bike hangers.
We came across many many in which the red phone booths have been already repurposed. Some have been decorated as places where good photos can be taken.

We didn’t want to restrict the meeting points to any particular points but to facilitate easy decision steps and to address the trust issues in meeting at random unknown places we decided to suggest places in the app.
We covered 2 aspects with this feature. Firstly, making a safe payment to Gumtree which will then be transferred to the seller when the buyer gives the secret code after receiving the product.
Secondly, this way Gumtree could monitor and validate if whether or not if the transaction was complete or not. This also leads to the rating system to be auto-filled for the customer which could be edited if they feel unsatisfied with the service.
The money is safe with Gumtree until the transaction is successful. If not, will be reverted back to the buyer.
At the end of the week we tried sending the model for printing and couldn’t still figure out the problem. This frustrated me a lot as I planned to show in this week’s presentation.
I felt that there was no point trying to adjust, so I moved on to gathering thoughts for the presentation.
I hoped to make a new model for the following week.
