We had come up with the rough narrative and a mental picture of what we wanted to present

As soon as we wrote down the narrative, I immediately remembered the diorama that I had created earlier and the visual elements overlapped each other at many points. That’s when I realized the purpose of such techniques. Once we create a mental image. We slowly and subconsciously aim to work towards and achieve it

On one hand...

There were many times when we had to go back and forth the process to scrutinize the message that we were trying to convey. Then we moved on from group performance narrative to a single performer.

When we wanted some external advice on what could be a better way to represent our idea, we contacted Step Singer seeking for some advice. She advised us that with the message that we are tying to convey, it would be better realized if it was experiential rather than a passive narrative.

Farah quoted her uncle “It’s easy to catch a fish in the muddy water”, which really caught our attention. The clouding of judgement makes it inevitable for people to make uninformed decision.

On the other hand...

We were trying really hard to piece the food and nutrition together to the experience.

The art of deception

We were inspired by this Netflix show called ‘School of Chocolate’ where the participants try to recreate object out of food. This deception resonated with us on how companies disinform people and takes advantage of their weakness.

This inspired us to take the experience to tell people ‘The food you see might not be the food you eat’. So like having a meatball soup made out of chocolate and marshmallows. Or a burger made from wafer biscuits.

It wasn’t just the food but it was supposed to be the entire environment that we wanted the person to be immersed in. We looked up for inspirations with this in mind.

Although this idea was tied well with food, the consequences of this experiences seem to be pointing fingers at the participants saying that ‘Hey! We tricked you’ instead of driving them to realize the importance of fighting misinformation.
