The project was partnered with the design studio Applied Works and therefore we hoped to receive some inspiration and learn the techniques that they adopted in order to fight misinformation. For example, BBC had developed this technique called “iReporter” that encourages young people to take the role of a journalist and challenge them to make their decisions differentiating truth from false. This idea of gaming to engage young audience seemed very promising.

To bring forward the dynamic between the individual and food and gain emotional relationship between them, we adopted this method. We set up these booths at different places for people to drop their letter.
Preparing the materials for the setup
Prompts for the letter
Setting up the booths at places with high probability of people of the age group 15-25 yr gather
With anonymity people even became poetic and showed us how people have a ‘Love hate’ relationship in their own words. etc
The overwhelming amount of response we received with this research method
I watched this documentary called Fed up. It gave real life examples on what kids feel and the ‘systematic political failure’ in the U.S and how it played a big role in setting the trend of exercising from the mid to the late 90’s. We also watched another documentary called ‘Food Inc.’

We attended a workshop on Research methods conducted by Wan Li that helped us refine our process and gave us better techniques to adopt in compiling and map the data that we had gathered in the week earlier.
Personal interviews with people
Mapping our ideas to synthesize data collected
Preparation for the game. We ended up having good amount of fun looking at people play the game. This actually broke the stress that we were under at that point.
Spy game
The mechanism: All the participants receive a box with food item except one. By the end of an 1 min timer, they have to figure out which one is the spy (the one who doesn’t have the food item). They can question each other about the attributes of the mystery item and figure out who is bluffing by giving pseudo-truth
Aim: The aim of this game was to let the participants play the game and observe how they take advantage of the information that they exchange and camouflage the answers.
